The Presence within

My healing work is organic and emerges from the inner presence. As I do the healing work, whole of me entangles with the whole of other person and work is our way of being together as whole beings. The entanglements I experience in the healing work are no more or less than the contortions of my inner perceptions, perceived from this angle, the work holds a mirror to awareness. If I am willing to look in that mirror and not run from what I see, I have a chance to gain deeper knowing of myself.

This inner awareness of self is as crucial to the healing work as knowing the details of diagnosis, herbal properties, acupuncture channels, cranial tides, human anatomy, state laws and business ethics, etc. In fact, all of my knowing depends on my level of self awareness. When I do not understand myself, I cannot know people i treat, their condition, or herbal properties. My perception will be through dark glass in the shadows of my unexamined life—and when I cannot see them clearly, I cannot help them well.

When I do not know myself, i can not work from my whole embodied being and my understanding of people, herbs, subtle channels, etc, only be abstractly, from a distance, through memorized categories and concepts, as far removed from the world as I am from personal truth.

At the core of this work is the vulnerability, because no matter how deep i go there is always more to uncover. The mystery of being human, being connected and entangled, is unfathomable, so is the healing work and that is the ultimate reward.

Ah, not to be cut off,
not through the slightest partition
shut out from the law of the stars.
The inner—what is it?
if not intensified sky,
hurled through with birds and deep
with the winds of homecoming.

A billion stars go spinning through the night,
glittering above your head,
But in you is the presence that will be
when all the stars are dead.
